Lyon County’s mixed unified shot put team made history on Thursday at the KHSAA Class 1A State Track and Field Championships at the University of Kentucky.
Joseph Kingston and partner athlete Jacob Townsend placed 15th with a throw of 32-feet, 9 inches. The duo placed third at the region meet on May 9 with a toss of 37 feet 6 inches.
Lyon County track and field coach David Townsend said it was the first time a unified team from Lyon County competed at the state track meet.
