The Trigg County baseball team claimed its third win in four outings with a pair of blowouts in a doubleheader with Fort Campbell on Monday, running the Wildcats’ record to 3-6 with a visit from Murray High scheduled for Tuesday.

The Falcons drop their fourth straight to slip to 1-6 with a trip to West Creek, TN coming up on Thursday.

The Wildcats only managed four hits against Fort Campbell pitcher Ethan Egner in a 10-1 victory in the opener, but the Falcons let their starter down with eight errors.

Aidon Butts and Kaiden McCormick both had RBI singles in the bottom of the 1st to help Trigg County to a 4-0 advantage.

Isaac Peca’s triple brought in a run in the 3rd and the Wildcats added four more in the frame to double the margin.

Butts was strong on the mound for the Wildcats, going the distance and allowing a run on two hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts.  Robert Dennis had both hits for Fort Campbell, and his RBI single got the Falcons on the board in the 4th.

Trigg County tacked on the 10th run in the 5th when Stephen Audas reached on an error and Tyler Ahart came home.

Egner took the loss for the Falcons, allowing 10 runs, only two earned, with two walks and two strikeouts.

Butts had two RBI for Trigg and Peca collected two hits.

With the hour growing later and the temperature dropping, the Wildcats made quick work of the Falcons in the nightcap.

Trigg freshman Chase Hampton was near perfect over three frames, allowing only a single walk and striking out five in a 15-0 victory.

Peca’s RBI single and two Falcon errors gave the Wildcats a 4-0 lead after the 1st inning.  Four walks and a hit by pitch, all with the bases loaded, did most of the damage in a seven-run 2nd, with Brayden Jones adding an RBI single.

Trigg County finished off the night in style in the 3rd, with Dallas Ahart’s triple bringing in two runs to end the game.

Austin Stewart, Lance Breckel, and Hampton also had hits for the Wildcats.
