The UHA Blazer baseball team will probably be content to not see a bus pulling in with Lyon County on the side for the rest of the season after the Lyons handed the Blazers a second mercy-rule loss in four days with an 18-0 win on Friday.

The setback is a third in four outings to leave the Blazers at 8-9 with a visit from Henderson County coming up on Saturday.

The Lyons look to be hitting their stride with a fourth-straight victory and will face Christian County on Saturday in a matchup between the top two squads in the region based on RPI.

Just as they did in Tuesday’s All-A Region matchup, the Lyons jumped all over a Blazer 8th-grade pitcher, starting with Brody Williams’ two-run home run off UHA starter Jackson Flynn.  The Lyons went on to add five more 1st-inning runs, including a grand slam by Peyton Williams, to lead 7-0 early on.

Lyon County did the rest of the damage in the 2nd, using five bases-loaded walks to push across 11 runs.  Brady Belt, Jackson Shoulders, and Corey Cissell each singled to drive in runs, and Luke Gilbert’s double drove in a pair.

Belt earned the win on the mound for the Lyons, holding the Blazers without a hit while walking three and striking out five.

Shoulders finished 3/3 with a pair of RBI, Brody Williams had two hits and three runs driven in, Gilbert and Eli Baker each brought in a pair of runs, and Peyton Williams led the way with four RBI.

Flynn took the loss for the Blazers, yielding 14 runs, nine earned, on eight hits with four walks and a pair of strikeouts.  Jaiden Miles worked two-thirds of an inning and allowed four earned runs on three hits with a pair of walks, and Eli Finch pitched a shutout 3rd with a walk and a strikeout.
