Trigg County’s drive to Union County to play in the Class 2A sectional lasted longer than its semifinal match Tuesday as six players scored in a 10-0 win over Webster County.

The Lady Wildcats advance to the championship of the 2A sectional for the second straight year. Calloway County and Union County play in Wednesday’s other semifinal.

Trigg’s balance was on display as they scored 10 goals in 35 minutes and held the Lady Trojans without a shot.

Addison Humphries began the scoring less than four minutes in when her 10th goal of the season came off a Leiah Hite corner kick.

Lania Hite and Camryn Boone followed with goals in the next three minutes and the rout was on.

Humphries finished with two goals and two assists. Camryn Boone doubled her season goal total with a pair of scoring markers.

Leiah Hite added two goals (12) and three assists, bringing her season total to 15.

Maggie Wolfe and Hallie Joiner also added goals with Joiner’s ending the match with less than a minute left.

Trigg’s defensive unit that included regulars Zoe Miller, Isabella Detweiler, Brooke Humphries, and Charistyn Heath scored its third clean sheet in the past four matches.

The Lady Wildcats will now look ahead to a likely showdown with Calloway County in Thursday’s championship match. Trigg lost to Calloway 3-1 in last year’s title match and has never beaten the Lady Lakers in 11 career meetings.

Thursday’s championship will be at 7:30 at Union County.
