
Hancock County senior hurler Porter Hay fired a one-hitter on Thursday as the Hornets blanked Hopkins County Central 13-0 in six innings in Mortons Gap.
Hay struck out 16 and did not walk a batter.
Hopkins Central’s only base hit was a leadoff single by Neilan Bruce leading off the bottom of the fourth.
Hancock (3-7) blew open the game late after leading just 3-0 through three innings.
A three-run fourth and a six-run sixth helped put the game away for the Hornets.
Jack Roberts was 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs batted in and three runs scored.
Hay was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
Hopkins Central, now 6-4, will travel to Murray on Friday for a Kentucky 2A Championships sectional semifinal matchup.
