The Trigg County Lady Wildcats competed in a 12-team quad meet hosted by Calloway County on Tuesday and finished fifth.
Freshman Brilee Higgins claimed first place in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.72 seconds. It was a personal best for Higgins and the seventh-fastest in school history. Since her first race a month ago, she has trimmed two seconds off her time.
Higgins also finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 55.79.
Ella Dollison also ran the 300 hurdles and placed 10th in 1:02.61.
In the sprints, Addison Humphries led the way with a 15th-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 14.41 and came back to place 14th in the 200-meter dash in 30.70.
Aniyah Wharton was 22nd in the 100 at 15.23, while Brooke Humphries finished 23rd in 15.30 and Caroline Kosak was 25th in 15.82.
In the 200, Aniya Dawson took 15th in 31.16, and Kalin Kingston was 23rd in 33.79.
In the middle-distance races, Kingston added a 12th-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 1:18.96, Alayah Hargrove was eighth in the 800-meter run in 3:08.56, and the Quinteros sisters both turned in strong efforts in the 1600-meter run. Sophia was sixth in 6:14.82, and Luci was seventh in 6:17.89.
The Lady Wildcats were fifth in the 400-meter relay (Brooke Humphries, Higgins, Dollison, Navarro) in 57.36, second in the 800-meter relay (Dollison, Navarro, Dawson, and Higgins) in 1:58.90, and second in the 3200-meter relay (Sophia and Luci Quinteros, Dawson, and Hargrove) in 11:40.31.
In the field events, Dollison led the Lady Wildcats in the long jump, finishing eighth at 13-3. A.J. Navarro was close behind in ninth at 13-2, while Kingston placed 13th at 11-2.
Navarro also recorded Trigg County’s top finish in the triple jump, placing fourth with a leap of 28-3.
Brooke Humphries paced the Lady Wildcats in both throwing events, taking fifth in the discus with a throw of 82-7 and fifth again in the shot put at 28-0.
Hargrove finished 15th in the discus at 57-4, while Caroline Kosak placed 19th in the shot put with a mark of 20-2.
Trigg County totaled 59 points to finish behind Calloway County (204), Marshall County (89), Graves County (89), and Murray (81).
