
The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers closed out its track and field program at the KHSAA Class 2A State Championships on Friday at the University of Kentucky.
Hoptown had two runners just miss a state medal podium visit by one place.
Alexis Herrera-Lovato finished in ninth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.53, while Leaunna Wilkerson came in ninth place in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.34 seconds.
Wilkerson also finished 23rd in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.04.

In the 400-meter dash, Alanni Quarles finished 15th in 1:04.64, while Grace Cansler was 17th in 1:05.06.
Lauren Mayes competed in two distance events, placing 20th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:54.99 and 21st in the 3200-meter run in 13:05.87. Her 3200-meter run represented the final female athletic event in Hopkinsville High School history.
The Lady Tigers’ 400-meter relay team of Jayla Brunson, Laelah Watkins, Heaven McCullough, and Leaunna Wilkerson placed 19th with a time of 55.50 seconds.
Mccollough also finished 19th in the high jump after clearing 4 feet, 6 inches.
