A delay in the start of the game did not deter the Daviess County Lady Panthers Thursday night. Daviess County used a stifling defensive performance to end a four-game losing streak as they rolled past the UHA Lady Blazers 65-17 in Blazer Gym.

The Lady Panthers limited the Lady Blazers to seven or fewer points in all four quarters. The Daviess County defense held UHA to one field goal combined in the second and fourth quarters.

The Lady Panthers bolted out to an 18-6 lead after the opening quarter. That lead grew to 36-8 by the end of the half.

Daviess County kept the heat on in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Blazers 17-7 and pushing the lead to 53-15. With the running clock in play, the Lady Panthers would roll on out in the 4th quarter to the final 48 point margin.

UHA was paced by Alecia Davis with 7 points. Brittyn Northington added five points for the Lady Blazers.

Daviess County’s Katie Mewes led all scorers in the game with 18 points. Adylan Ayer tossed in another 15 for the Lady Panthers.

UHA drops to 1-10 on the season. The Lady Blazers are back in action Friday night when they host Russellville.

Daviess County improved to 6-7 on the year. The Lady Panthers travel across town to Apollo Saturday.
