The UHA girls’ basketball team took an early advantage and only trailed by a point at halftime of Saturday’s meeting with Christian Fellowship, but the Lady Blazers couldn’t ground the Lady Eagles in the second half of a 54-33 defeat.
Brianna Daniel knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and Brittyn Northington added 4 points to help the Lady Blazers to a 12-11 lead after one. Gracie Howard carried Christian Fellowship early on with 9 first-quarter points.
Neither team broke double digits in the second, with Northington providing all the offense for the Lady Blazers. Howard scored 6 of the Lady Eagles’ 9, and they led 20-19 at the break.
Christian Fellowship took control after halftime, with Howard and Jayden Jackson combining for 10 points, and Lillian Burnett adding 4. UHA only managed 4 points and trailed 34-23 with a quarter to play.
Amaryia Bass scored 6 points in an effort to jumpstart a Lady Blazer comeback, but Christian Fellowship’s Burnett caught fire with 12 points over the final eight minutes to build the final 21-point margin.
