Colt Bannister had a pair of goals for Lyon County, but Paducah St. Mary spoiled Senior Night Thursday in Eddyville, beating the Lyons 5-2.
Lyon (2-16) appeared to be gaining momentum in the 62nd minute when Bannister knocked home a loose ball in front. That pulled the Lyons within 3-2.
But the Vikings (8-6) countered with a penalty kick in the 68th minute and a goal off a long shot in the 70th minute to take control at 5-2.
St. Mary outshot the Lyons 20-5.
Luke Gilbert recorded nine saves in the Lyon net.
The visiting Vikings scored the game’s first two goals in the 13th and 21st minutes.
But Bannister got Lyon close in the 31st minute, using help from Walker Suitor to make it a 2-1 ballgame.
However, St. Mary got to halftime with a 3-1 lead on a goal in the 34th minute.
Lyon will next host Trigg County Tuesday night in the 5th District championship game.
