Five-Run 3rd Sends Lady Lyons Past Livingston Central (w/PHOTOS)

Emma West’s two-run shot highlighted a five-run 3rd inning to push the Lyon County Lady Lyons to a come-from-behind 8-6 victory over Livingston Central on Monday in Eddyville.

Lyon County wins its fifth in six tries to improve to 9-7, 2-0 in 5th-District play.  Livingston Central drops its third in five games to even its record at 1-1 against district competition.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the 2nd after RBI singles from Emersyn Ramage and Victoria Harris, the Lady Lyons pulled a run back on Lauren Davis’ two-out single that brought home Emma West.

Lyon County used a five-run 3rd to take the lead for good, with Jenna Coursey’s RBI single tying the game at 3-3.  West followed with a two-run home run over the left-field fence, and Davis knocked in a run with a single for a 6-3 Lady Lyon advantage.

Courtney Collins singled in a run in the bottom of the 4th to stretch the Lady Lyon lead to four, but the Lady Cardinals answered with two runs in the top of the 5th for a 7-5 score.

Davis singled with two outs in the 5th and took 2nd on an error, before coming home on Calista Collins’ single to give the Lady Lyons a three-run cushion.

Livingston Central added a run in its final at-bat, but Lilly Perry capped a complete-game victory with a strikeout to strand a runner on 3rd in the top of the 7th.

Perry allowed three earned runs on seven hits with five walks and eight strikeouts.  West finished with three hits and two RBI, Calista Collins, Courtney Collins, Perry, Coursey, and Davis had two hits each, and Davis and West both drove in two runs.

Madeline Norton took the loss in the circle for Livingston, yielding eight runs, seven earned, on 16 hits with three strikeouts.

Victoria Harris finished 2/3 with three RBI for the Lady Cardinals.
