Hot-Handed Grayson County Downs Lady Blazers

The University Heights Academy girls’ basketball team got 20 points from point guard Alicia Davis on Tuesday against visiting Grayson County, but the Lady Blazers couldn’t withstand the Lady Cougars’ long-distance attack in a 62-40 defeat.

The Lady Cougars knocked down nine three-pointers on the night, including five for Sydney Perkins.  Perkins had five first-quarter points, nearly equalling UHA’s output, to lead Grayson to a 20-6 lead.

Perkins was on fire with 12 points in the second, and Sutton VanMeter chipped in five to guide the Lady Cougars to a 42-14 halftime advantage.

Perkins ended her night with six points in the third to finish with a game-high 23.  The Lady Cougars snapped a six-game skid to improve to 3-9.

Davis scored 12 of her time-high 20 in the second half for the Lady Blazers.  Lee Lee Love got going late with seven points in the fourth to finish with 11.

UHA slipped to 2-9 with an 8th-District matchup at Christian County on Friday.
