The Livingston Central softball team came into Friday’s matchup at Christian County on a three-game win streak and averaging over seven and a half runs per game.  But the Lady Colonels’ Jordan Turner put the brakes on all that with a shutout performance in the circle to avenge an earlier loss to the Lady Cardinals with a 1-0 victory.

Christian County bounced back from a 2-1 defeat at Todd County Central on Thursday to improve 15-10-1.  The Lady Colonels are scheduled to play three times on Saturday in the Owensboro Catholic Classic.

Turner and Livingston’s Madeline Norton battled out for out over the first four frames, with neither pitcher allowing an extra-base hit until the Lady Colonels scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the 5th.  Turner and Allie Houchens opened the inning with back-to-back singles ahead of a two-out RBI double by Avery Adcock.

Neveah Grimm’s single in the top of the 6th was the only baserunner Turner allowed the rest of the way to improve her record to 9-4.  She scattered six hits over seven innings with two walks and nine strikeouts.

Norton suffered only her second loss for the Lady Cardinals, giving up a single earned run on five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Grimm and Victoria Joiner led the way for Livingston with two hits each.

The Lady Cardinals slipped to 17-6 with their first shutout loss of the season.
