The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors had their highest offensive output since their season opener but came up a little bit short in Mortons Gap Monday evening. The Warriors dropped their third straight game, falling to Hopkins County Central 71-59.
The Warriors opened strong on the road, taking a 21-18 lead after the opening quarter. The Storm battled back in the second quarter, outscoring HCA 18 to 13 to take a 36-34 lead into the break.
The Storm opened the second half with a 10-2 run to take their first double-digit lead of the game at 46-36. After a Warrior basket, Hopkins Central went on a 9-0 run to firmly grasp control of the game with a 55-38 lead. The Storm would lead 55-42 going into the final quarter.
Heritage would get no closer than nine points in the final quarter as Central held on for the 12-point lead.
Jason Leek led the Warriors with 25 points. Cash Bolinger just missed double-figures with 9.
HCA outrebounded Hopkins County Central 28-21. Layton Giltner had 11 rebounds for the Warriors.
Heritage Christian (1-3) will host Fort Campbell on Thursday night.
