Lady Rebels Cruise Past Booker T. Washington 17-1

The Todd County Central Lady Rebels picked up their first win of Spring Break 2024 and did so in impressive fashion Thursday. The Lady Rebels scored in every inning and got a big pitching performance from Addison Woodall as they rolled to a 17-1 win at Booker T. Washington in Pensacola.

The Lady Rebels took the lead once and for all in the top of the first. Naomi Welborn blasted an RBI triple to score Abby Williams putting Todd Central up 1-0. Courtesy runner Madison Wade later scored on a single from Dakotah Gammon.

Naomi Welborn’s double in the top of the second drove in two more runs, extending the lead to 4-0. After Booker T. Washington scored a run in the bottom of the second, the Lady Rebels came right back in the top of the third to score five times and push the lead out to 9-1. Abby Williams’ 2-run double was the big blow of the inning.

Maliyah Merriweather and Naomi Welborn had RBI doubles in the top of the fourth as Todd County Central pushed the lead out to 14-1. Jocelyn Mock and Gracee Miller drove in runs in the top of the 5th as the lead reached 17-1.

Naomi Welborn had a big day at the plate, going 3-3 with two doubles and a triple, 5 RBIs, and a run scored. Maliyah Merriweather finished 2-2 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Addison Woodall was 2-4 with 3 RBIs.

Woodall went the distance in the circle for the Lady Rebels, giving up one run on two hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Todd County Central closes out its Spring Break with a game Friday at Orange Beach.
