Hoptown Girls Finish in 11th Place at Area 1 Championship

The Hopkinsville girls’ track and field team finished in 11th place at Saturday’s Area 1 Championships at Paducah Tilghman.

The Lady Tigers had a pair of top-five finishes and five marks that set a new personal best.

RUNNING EVENTS

Anniriah Settles came in third place in the 300-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 50.68 seconds.

Lauren Mayes came in seventh place in the 3200-meter run at 12:59.54.

Grace Cansler was ninth in the 400-meter dash in 1:06.29. She ran a season-best time in the 200 meters (28.48) and finished in 10th place.

Rebecca Wood was ninth in the 3200-meter run in 15:42.67.

Ollia Dixon was 10th in the 300-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 56.45 seconds and was 20th in the 100-meter hurdles in 22.36.

Kaniya Jackson ran a 19.36 in the 100-meter hurdles to finish in 12th place.

Kaydon Coats was 15th in the 1600-meter run in 6:47.45 and 17th in the 800 meters in 2:56.44.

Alexis Herrera-Loveto was 18th in the 800-meter dash in 2:58.96.

Janiyah Rhodes came in 19th place in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 29.98 seconds and finished in 20th place in the 100-meter dash in 13.90 seconds.

Arniya Brown was 22nd in the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 14.04 seconds.

RELAYS

The 1600-meter relay team of Grace Cansler, Amaya Burse, Anniriah Settles, and Janiyah Rhodes finished in third place in 4:33.13.

The 3200-meter relay team of Kayden Coats, Alexis Herrera-Loveto, Lauren Mayes, and Rebecca Wood finished in seventh place with a clocking of 11:32.17.

The 800-meter relay team of Grace Cansler, Ollia Dixon, Arniya Brown, and Janiyah Rhodes ran a season-best time of 1:51.70 to finish in ninth place.

The 400-meter relay team of Brown, Rhodes, Dixon, and Kaniya Jackson ran a season-best time to finish in ninth place.

FIELD EVENTS

Jakaylah Pettus had a personal best in the shot put. Her toss of 23-05 was good for 16th place. She also had a personal best discus throw of 63-11, coming in 19th place.
