Caldwell County senior Carter Whittington found himself in a key spot in Tuesday’s 7th District championship game at Mortons Gap.
With the Tigers down 1-0 to Madisonville-North Hopkins in the bottom of the seventh inning, Caldwell loaded the bases with nobody out and had Whittington at the plate.
Whittington hit a high chopper to second that scored the tying run. Caldwell then plated the winning run when the throw to the plate got away.
YSE caught up with Whittington after the contest.
