The Union County Braves had it dialed in from long distance Monday night. The Braves hit 14 3-pointers and rolled to a 102-53 home court win over the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors.
The Warriors were limited to justs three field goals in the opening quarter as Union County bolted out of the gate to a 23-8 lead.
Cale Johnson scored 15 points in the second quarter, including burying a trio of 3-point shots, as the Braves extended the lead to 46-22 at the half. Jason Leek scored 13 of the Warriors’ 22 first half points.
Johnson added four more threes in the third quarter as the Braves knocked down seven shots from behind the arc and ran the lead out to 79-40. Jason Leek scored 14 of Heritage Christian’s 18 points in the third.
With the running clock in play, the final quarter finished out quickly, still Union County managed to put 23 more points on the board, including three more shots from behind the arc.
Jason Leek scored 31 points to lead Heritage Christian. Nathan Wheatcraft was also in double figures with 10. Cadyn Travis ended up with 8 points.
Union County’s Cale Johnson led all scorers in the game with 33 points despite being shutout in the first quarter. Jaidyn Wilson had 19 points.
Heritage Christian (1-5) will take on Carlisle County Friday in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic at Caldwell County High School.
