Lady Colonels Stay Unbeaten with Win at Lyon (w/PHOTOS)

With the tying run at second base and just one out in the bottom of the seventh, Christian County pitcher Jordan Turner got the Lyon County Lady Lyons to hit into consecutive pop-ups to close out the game and the Lady Colonels stayed unbeaten with a tough 6-5 win Thursday night at Lee S. Jones Park.

Courtney Collins hit a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh and advanced to second on a Christian County error to set the stage for the dramatic finish.

The game had been back-and-forth most of the night with the teams swapping the lead five times. Christian County finally took the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning with a pair of runs to go up 6-4. The big hit in the inning was a two out double from Chloe Almy.

Courtney Collins blasted a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the fifth to get the game back to a one-run contest at 6-5.

Alexis Epps had a big game for Christian County (4-0), going 3-4 with two runs scored. BB Rodriguez, Chloe Almy, Jordan Turner, and Jayda Turner added two hits each for the Lady Colonels, who outhit the Lady Lyons 11 to 10. Almy ended up with 3 RBIs.

For Lyon County (4-2), Courtney Collins was 3-4 with a home run, an RBI, and 3 runs scored. Jaylen Tackett and Olivia Moore had two hits each. Five different Lady Lyons had an RBI in the contest.

Jordan Turner went the distance for Christian County in the circle, giving up 5 runs, four of them earned, on 10 hits, striking out four and walking none.

Ava Prow went all seven innings for Lyon County, giving up six runs, five of them earned, on 11 hits, striking out two and walking two.
