The Hopkins County Central Storm and the Heritage Christian Academy Warrios had both lost their last game going into their matchup against one another, but it was the latter who was able to end their regular season with a 7-5 victory on the road.
It took a couple of innings for the scoring to get starter, but it was Hopkins Central who struck first in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly from Brody Smith.
The Storm scored another run in the fourth, but not before HCA scored three of their own to make it 3-2 in favor of the Warriors after the fourth inning.
The biggest inning in the game turned out to be the sixth, as Caden Hale hit a sac fly and Collin Outland hit a three-run home run to make it 7-2. Hopkins Central got back a couple of runs, but it was too little too late, and the Warriors came away with the win.
Outland started for HCA and got five strikeouts in his 3.2 innings, while Gaige Brasher was on the mound for Central, and tallied three punch outs in his four innings of work.
Neilan Bruce was the leader for the Storm at the plate, going 5-for-5 and scoring two runs. As for the Warriors, Outland’s bomb allowed him to lead the team in runs batted in with three.
Hopkins County Central will be back in action on Saturday, May 16, in the 7th District Tournament against the Caldwell County Tigers. First pitch of their game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Caldwell County High School.
