Caldwell County Finishes in 11th Place at State Track Meet

The Caldwell County track and field team produced an 11th-place finish at the KHSAA Class 1A State Track and Field Championships on Thursday at the University of Kentucky.

The day was marred by rain showers, although not severe enough to cause any weather delays.

Cooper Mobley was third in the shot put in 46-11 and fourth in the discus throw at 136-10.

Shane Fairrow took fifth place in the 100-meter dash in 11.23 seconds.

Max Heaton and Jackson Risley both reached the medal podium in the 110-meter hurdles. Heaton was sixth in 16.43 seconds, and Risley was seventh in 16.48 seconds.

Risley was on pace to medal for a second time but was disqualified in the 300-meter hurdles when he lost his footing while trying to plant and crashed into the hurdle with 100 meters left.

Jonah Crim came in 13th place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.51 seconds.

Max Heaton was 13th in the triple jump at 38-09.

The 800-meter relay team of Max Heaton, Tre Copeland, Zy Rollins, and Shaine Fairrow was 12th in 1:36.26.

The 1600-meter relay team of Copeland, Jaden Boyd, Jerret Basco, and Donovan Rogers took 18th in 3:51.22.

The 3200-meter relay team of Hoayang Wu, James Phelps, Jacob Forsythe, and Evan Ramage came in 21st place in 9:45.96.

Caldwell County finished 11th in the team standings with 20 points.

Jackson Risley finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles.
Max Heaton was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles.
Shane Fairrow was fifth in the 100-meter dash.
Cooper Mobley was third in the shot put and fourth in the discus throw
