Trigg County High School wrapped up its 2026 track and field season on Friday at the KHSAA Class 2A State Championships hosted at the University of Kentucky.

Freshman Brilee Higgins turned in an 11th-place finish in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 17.54 seconds. Despite the race being run in the rain, Higgins missed her personal best by a half-second.

On Thursday, Veyda Grinols accepted her award for being named to the All-Fifth District Softball Team. Less than 24 hours later, she finished in 19th place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.62. It was only the fourth time she had run the event this year.

In field events, Ella Dollison finished 16th in the girls’ long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 3-and-a-half inches.

In the relays, the 800-meter relay team of Brilee Higgins, Kalin Kingston, Addison Humphries, and Ella Dollison finished in 20th place in 2:02.13.

For Humphries and Dollison, they received their diploma at commencement services on Thursday night and made the quick trip to Lexington to compete on Friday morning.

The 3200-meter relay team of Sophi and Luci Quinteros, Daija White, and Alayah Hargrove came in 24th place in 12:34.35.

Meanwhile, the guys fielded a team in the 3200-meter relay. Dominic Skinner, Joseph Ethridge, Cameron Crawford, and Dekon Perry came in 23rd place in 9:26.96.

Trigg County will move to Class 1A next year if a proposed alignment for cross country and track and field is approved by the KHSAA later this year.
