The Trigg County boys turned in a fourth-place finish Tuesday at the Calloway County Quad Meet, highlighted by two relay victories and an individual win from sophomore Zamonte Cavanaugh.
Cavanaugh won the 300-meter hurdles in 49.84 seconds. He also contributed in the field, finishing ninth in the long jump at 15-4, and ran on three relay teams.
In the sprints, Jensen Nolte posted a runner-up finish in the 100-meter dash, clocking a personal-best 11.79. Cavanaugh was 22nd in 12.78, while Giovanni Pantoja added a personal-best 12.81 for 23rd.
Pantoja later placed 18th in the 200-meter dash with another personal-best time of 26.18, and Karmelo Dixon was 25th in 28.63.
The Wildcats also got solid production in the quarter-mile, where Dekon Perry placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 55.19, while Brody Renfroe came in eighth at 57.95.
Trigg County packed the 1600-meter run with five scorers. Dominic Skinner ran a personal-best 5:16.47 to finish fifth. Grant Gallogly also posted a personal-best effort, taking sixth in 5:29.59, while seventh-grader Cameron Crawford was seventh in a personal-best 5:30.11. Maxwell Disney added a personal-best 5:33.96 for ninth, and Joseph Ethridge rounded out the group in 10th at 5:34.49.
In the field events, Antwoine Wharton finished fifth in the high jump by clearing 5-0 and taking fourth in the long jump with a leap of 17-0.
Disney added a sixth-place finish in the long jump at 16-1 and later placed 17th in the discus at 58-2.
Dixon was fifth in the triple jump at 35-0.5, and Mac Alexander finished 13th in the shot put with a throw of 31-3.
In the relays, Trigg County finished fourth in the 400-meter relay in 46.91 with the team of Cavanaugh, Nolte, Wharton, and Pantoja. The Wildcats were fifth in the 800-meter relay in a season-best 1:38.91 with Cavanaugh, Wharton, Nolte, and Mykai Anderson.
Trigg County also had a pair of wins in the longer relays. The Wildcats won the 1600-meter relay in 3:53.92 behind Renfroe, Cavanaugh, Anderson, and Perry, and also captured first in the 3200-meter relay with a season-best 9:17.48 from Renfroe, Skinner, Ethridge, and Perry.
The Wildcats scored 84.5 points to finish behind Calloway County (140), Murray (130), and Graves County (102).
