Fielding the youngest team in the 16-team field, Hopkinsville finished 14th at the tough Greenwood Lady Gator Invitational Monday at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Seventh grader Cate Blane shot a round of 86 to finish tied for 31st in the first-rate field. She shot a 41 on the front nine and a 45 on the back nine.
Eighth grader Anna Fort shot the best round of her career, coming in with an 88 to finish tied for 40th place. Fort also shot a 41 on the front nine and carded a 47 on the back nine.
Eighth grader Ava Colburn shot a 115, followed by Audrey Rains (119) and Anna Blane (122).
The golfers endured an afternoon of 90-degree weather that saw the round come in at just under six hours.
Defending state champion Laney Frye of Lexington Catholic won the 16-team event with an even-par round of 72. Frye tied with her teammate Delia Gibbs and won in a scorecard playoff.
