
The 1st and 3rd quarters were the University Heights Academy girls’ undoing on Saturday, with hosts Butler County outscoring the Lady Blazers by 29 in the odd frames on the way to a 56-34 victory.
The loss is the third straight for UHA, leaving them at 4-18 on the year with a trip to 8th-District rivals Christian County coming up on Wednesday.
It was all Butler County in the opening quarter, with Gracie Cardwell putting up eight points and Taylor Leach and Taylin Clark combining for 12 to help the Lady Bears to a 20-4 advantage.
The Lady Blazers battled back in the 2nd behind five points from Amaryia Bass, but they couldn’t cut into the 16-point deficit at the half.
Butler County put the game away in the 3rd, outscoring UHA 18-5 behind 10 points from Taylin Clark. The Lady Blazers trailed 48-19 with a quarter to play.
UHA’s Alicia Davis knocked down a pair of 3-pointers on the way to seven points and Lee Lee Love added four in the 4th to trim seven points off the final margin.
Davis led the Lady Blazers with 13 points, followed by Bass with 12.
