Eighth grader Jackie Farmer pitched a one-hit shutout and Caldwell County dispatched Hopkins County Central 10-0 in six innings in 7th District softball action Thursday in Princeton.
Alicia Stanley and Adley Lewis homered for Caldwell County. Jackie Farmer pitched a one-hitter.
Stanley had a two-run shot in the bottom of the third to put the Lady Tigers up 3-0.
Lewis had a solo shot in the fifth to make it 5-0.
Caldwell finished the game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Laney Jones doubled home the game-ending run as Caldwell reached the 10-run mercy rule.
Stanley finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs batted in and two runs scored.
Lewis was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, one RBI and three runs scored.
A.J. Hollowell was 3-for-4 and knocked in a run.
Jones was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Meanwhile, Farmer struck out three in her complete-game pitching performance. She allowed only a double to Amelia Johnson with two outs in the top of the fourth.
Caldwell’s girls are 11-7 overall and 3-2 in the district.
The Lady Storm is 1-10 this season and 0-3 in the district.
The Lady Tigers have won the last 12 meetings with the Lady Storm.
Caldwell’s girls will travel to Crittenden County on Friday. The Lady Rockets are 7-11.
