Downey Hits Seven 3’s as Livingston Runs Past Lady Blazers

A big performance from Alecia Davis was not quite enough for the University Heights Academy Blazers to snag their second straight win Tuesday night. Livingston Central took an early lead in the game and never gave it up as the Lady Cardinals got past the Lady Blazers 59-43 in Smithland.

The Lady Cardinals knocked down three 3-pointers in the first eight minutes of the game as they took a 15-8 lead after one. Livingston added two more from behind the arc in the second quarter as the lead grew to 31-20.

Livingston continued to connect from 3-point land in the third quarter, hitting three more, as they pushed the lead out to 48-32. The two teams played even in the final quarter as the Lady Cardinals took the 16-point win.

Alecia Davis had a standout night for the Lady Blazers with 25 points. Amaryia Bass added 10 for UHA.

Livingston Central’s Maggie Downey was the game’s leading scorer with 30 points. Downey hit seven from behind the 3-point line. Aubrey Leahy finished with 14 points.

UHA drops to 1-7 with the loss. The Lady Blazers travel to Dawson Springs on Thursday to take on the Lady Panthers.
