One bad inning turned out to be the difference for the Lyon County Lady Lyons in their first preseason scrimmage of the 2024 softball season Saturday. Apollo erupted for five runs in the bottom of the 5th inning as the E-Gals came from behind to take a 6-3 win over the Lady Lyons.

The scrimmage, which was originally set to be played at Lee S. Jones Park was moved to Apollo due to wet field conditions.

Lyon County had taken a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on RBI singles from Audrey Akridge and Piper Cotham.

Apollo cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning on a double from Liza Page.

The E-Gals then strung together two doubles, two singles, and a walk in the bottom of the 5th inning to score five runs. All of the runs were scored with two outs.

The Lady Lyons would convert an Apollo error into a run in the top of the seventh, but that would be the end of the rally.

Lauren Davis, Piper Cotham, Lilly Perry, Brenna Breitrick, Olivia Moore, and Audrey Akridge all had one hit each for Lyon County.

Lilly Perry went the distance in the circle, giving up six runs on 13 hits, striking out nine while walking four.
