After a slow start to the season, the Caldwell County Lady Tigers are closing in on the .500 mark.

Junior Sydney Glisson tossed a three-hit shutout on Friday as Caldwell beat Webster County 3-0 at Lady Tiger Field in Princeton.

It’s the third-straight win for the Lady Tigers, who are now 7-8.

Caldwell is 7-4 since opening the season with four straight losses.

The Lady Tigers got all of the offense they would need in the bottom of the first inning when Josey DeHart doubled home a pair of runs.

Caldwell added an insurance run in the fifth on a single to left by Alexis Wood. That made it 3-0.

Webster (7-10-1) also got strong pitching from Layla Scott. She allowed two earned runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking none.

For Caldwell, DeHart and Evie Jo Freeman each doubled, while Wood, Daelen Kizzee, Ellie King, Tink Clark and Addison McDaniel each had singles.

Webster got singles from Scott, Natalie Eversole and Avery Guill.

The Lady Trojans had taken four straight from the Lady Tigers before Friday. Webster leads all-time 23-15.

Caldwell’s girls will next host Paducah Tilghman on Monday.

Webster is scheduled to entertain both Carlisle County and Hopkins County Central on Saturday.
